To begin the initial design stage, E. L. Julian will require: Book title (or working title) Genre Author name (or pen name) A brief synopsis (books themes, symbolism, basic plot; things you might want incorporated into your cover; any element you do NOT want on your cover (e.g: some authors don't like covers with people's faces/distinguishable models, and prefer silhouettes, shadow, or objects) Approximate word count But if you don't know this information off the top of your head, don't worry - E. L. Julian will provide a form to fill in via email after you confirm your quote.

Absolutely! E. L. Julian loves it when clients can send through images, screenshots, or examples of what you like, what you don't like. It's all part of the design process.

No worries. If none of the first 3 concepts are quite what you're after, we will discuss what's working and what's not working so that a new set of concepts can be designed. E. L. Julian will work with you every step of the way until we get the final result you're after.

Once all designs are confirmed, you will be prompted to pay the final installment of the design fee. Once that has come through, E. L. Julian will then send you all the final files outlined in your contract.

This depends on how far through the design process you are. If you cancel after you have paid a deposit but no work has been carried out yet, your deposit will be refunded. Nice and simple. If you would like to cancel after you have paid your deposit and a significant amount of design work has been carried out, the amount refunded will be dependent on the amount of work already completed. (e.g. If you paid your 30% deposit, but more than 40% of the work has already been completed, then the deposit will not be refunded).

That's okay! If you like a particular premade cover and want to grab it before it goes, don't worry. Every premade purchase comes with a receipt; if you haven't written your book yet, or aren't planning on releasing it for a long time, you can just hang on to that receipt until you're ready, flick me an email with your changes, and we can customize it for you then. There is not time cap on the receipt, either, and all the original source files will be safely stored so everything is ready to go even 2-3 years down the line.

In order for the relevant changes to be made before providing your final PDF cover file, E. L. Julian requires the below information for paperbacks: - If the paperback is for KDP or IngramSpark (or both) - Trim Size - Page colour (fiction is usually 'cream') - Exact, final FORMATTED page count (this is essential for calculating the correct spine width) If you don't have any of this information upon purchase (e.g. if your paperback is still being formatted), then you can come back to E. L. Julian with your proof of purchase after the formatting is finished and she will carry out all relevant work then, no matter how much time has passed. All premade covers have this guarantee so that you can buy with confidence that your cover will be personalized and totally unique to you.
